George Jennings started his news career at the 50,000-watt blowtorch–KAAY 1090 (Little Rock, AR), which was noted for very highly produced newscasts such as those parodied on the WKRP television program.
In addition to his news duties, by using snippets from his collection of old time radio shows, George produced “Breakfast Serial,” a KAAY morning drive time program.
He ended his career as news director at another 50,000-watt blowtorch–WOAI.

Editor’s Note: George Jennings (February 1, 1940 - March 15, 2007) was born in Mexia, Texas. Over the years, there has been much debate and even jokes on how to pronounce Mexia. The truth, according to a former area resident, is that for most locals the pronunciation is “ma-hair.”
