Wreckless Driving

I was Program Director at KONO.  Johnny Rock, our resident bad boy, was doing a station remote at a local nightclub.  I was waiting for him at the station, because I was concerned that he had partaken in a number of “adult beverages” while doing the remote.

Sure enough, I soon saw the KONO van wildly weaving into the station parking lot.  Out hops Johnny from the passenger side.  I start yelling at him about his behavior, demanding to know why he was driving station property while in such bad condition.

While I am yelling at Johnny, Blazing Blake Lindsay, a blind disc jockey who worked at our sister station Power-93, rolls out of the driver side door of the van.  It was then that Johnny yelled back at me, “See!  I didn’t drive the station van drunk…Blake drove us back.”

Blake Lindsay Comments:  Lee made me laugh continuously, when I worked at Power-93.  Lee treated me like one of the guys, with zero hesitation on blind jokes.  One time he told me "Blake, radio sure beats making pencils, doesn't it?"  Making pencils was the main project at the Lighthouse for the Blind.  It took some nerve, and it came off very funny.  I will always be a huge Lee Woods fan.
