It had been one fine day as I entered the KTSA building on Eisenhower Road. However, things were about to change dramatically. It was about a third of the way down the hall that I noticed a terrible, awful odor. At first, I attempted to ignore it, but by the time I reached the end of the hall, I knew that I had to find and eliminate it, or I was not going to be able to focus on work.
My first thought was that an “overflow” had occurred in the bathroom. A quick check proved that everything in the bathroom was as it should be. As I returned to the hallway, the odor hit me again–even worse. At that point, the bathroom actually seemed to smell pretty good.
The next place I investigated was the snack area. There was nothing unusual on the floor, table, or counters that indicated it was heading south for “smellier pastures.” So, I decided to take a look at the plumbing under the sink.
While I was examining the plumbing for a possible leak, one of the air staff entered the snack room. Upon seeing the open boxes on the table he remarked:
“Ah! Goodies from the fans.”
All of a sudden, I heard, "This cookie tastes like s…!"
That is when I realized I had found the source of the terrible odor.
Oh, well, just another fun day at KTSA.
